ABOUT DR. JANICE SGRO
Dr. Janice Sgro graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Toxicology. She then graduated from and was on the Dean’s List at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, USA in 1992. She holds both a Canadian and US Optometry license. Dr. Sgro completed an externship focused on treatment and management of ocular disease and provides full scope eye care to all ages.
The Optometry office of Dr. Sgro and Associates donates used prescription glasses to St. Michael’s Hospital’s Philippine’s Vision Mission, to Ophthalmology clinics and to Canadian Indigenous communities.
Dr. Sgro enjoys volunteer work in her spare time. She has been a committee member of the Children’s Aid Foundation, St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation, Malachy’s Soirée annual gala for perinatal care in vulnerable populations, St. Michael’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit fundraising campaign and Portage (drug addiction and Rehab facility). Dr. Sgro sat as Chair and Vice Chair of the Upper Canada College Prep Parent Committee.

Dr. Sgro sat on the Board of Governors at Upper Canada College. She has been involved with the Me to We organization, including a service trip to Kenya to help build schools for communities in need and to promote We Village artisans. Dr. Sgro visited Canadian Indigenous Communities of Nunavut to attend medical conferences.
